Welcome to CARMEN

Code Analysis, Repository and Modelling for e-Neuroscience

CARMEN is an EPSRC funded e-Science Pilot Project. The CARMEN Neuroinformatics Project (Code Analysis, Repository and Modelling for e-Neuroscience) is a four-year e-Science pilot project funded by the EPSRC. The objective of the project is to create a virtual laboratory in which data on neuronal activity (electrical and optical measures) can be shared, stored, manipulated and modelled. The project currently involves a consortium of 20 academic investigators from 11 universities as well as commercial and international associates, but will expand to include new core partners over the coming years. CARMEN is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Brain cake

I was thinking about identifying the next experiments that needs to be associated with MINI reporting requirements guidelines and was wondering how many people in the consortium are making anatomically correct brain cakes and taking readings from these, I would probably define a MINI document in line with this published protocol.

The First MIBBI workshop

I am currently at the first MIBBI workshop, being held at the EBI in hinxton, presenting the MINI: Electrophysiology reporting guidelines. MIBBI is a registry for these types of reporting guidelines with the aim to create a foundry of best pratice and modular develop and therefore the re-use of available guidelines. The first day is made up of a whistle stop tour of all the flavours of these guidelines in existence. It has actually been an interesting morning and it is obvious there is alot of content overlap across the domains and higlights the need for modular development. The slides I presented are below.
