Adding a Package
How to add a package
If you have an account on CARMEN you may upload a package. This is a multistep process at present. A worked example will be added, but the process will also be simplified.
- To upload a package, go to the Packages subdirectory and click
'Add'. This will give you the option to upload a file containing your
software if you so wish. If your software is available via a URL to a
web page, etc. then this step is optional. After adding, click on the
package and note the URL for later (step 4)
- To upload documentation, go to the Documentation subdirectory and
click 'Add'. This will give you the option to upload documentation for
your software if you so wish. This can be as a file, or you can create a
web page relating to it. Ensure that any pages added are made visible. After adding, click on the file or page and note the URL for later.
- To upload licence information should your package use something other than the standard types, go to the Licence directory. Again a file (e.g. a PDF of the licence) or a web page may be added.
- Go to the Descriptions subdirectory and click Add. This will allow you to add a 'SoftwareProduct' only. This will bring up an add window with many fields. If you added local files for the package download, documentation, or licences, then you can add the locations of those on this website in the relevant locations in the form.
- Ensure that the SoftwareProduct is made public so that it appears in the list.
Note that if you wish to add similar items you can use plone's inbuilt functionality to copy and then modify an existing entry.
